Leadership Academy FY 2024

The SOAR Technical Assistance Center will be offering states the opportunity to send two people per state to a SOAR Leadership Academy in FY 2024 with travel, lodging, and per diem expenses (when applicable) paid through our contract with the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA).

Leadership Academies are filled on a first-come, first-served basis.  Space limitations mean that we may not be able to accommodate all states. All attendees must be selected by their State Team Lead (STL) or TA Center Liaison.

What is a SOAR Leadership Academy?

The SOAR Leadership Academy is a three-day training program presented by the SAMHSA SOAR Technical Assistance (TA) Center designed to prepare individuals to serve as SOAR Local Leads.

What is a SOAR Local Lead?

SOAR Local Leads assist with the implementation of their state's SOAR Action Plan and guide the SOAR initiatives in their communities by:
  • holding steering committee meetings;
  • leading SOAR Online Course training cohorts and conducting half-day SOAR Online Course Review Sessions;
  • mentoring individuals who complete the SOAR Online Course; and
  • reporting outcomes.

When are the Leadership Academies?

FY 2024 Leadership Academies:
  • February 13-15, 2024
  • May 7-9, 2024
  • August 6-8, 2024

How do I attend a Leadership Academy?

  • Each prospective participant must complete the SOAR Leadership Academy Application.
  • Applications will be forwarded to the State Team Lead (STL) and SAMHSA SOAR TA Center liaison upon completion.
  • STLs and/or the liaison will review the application(s) and select the most appropriate candidate(s).
  • The SAMHSA SOAR TA Center will then confirm availability and send information to applicants via email about registration and travel arrangements (as applicable).
  • Leadership Academies will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis. Space limitations mean that we may not be able to accommodate all interested parties.
