Description of Project

SSI/SSDI Outreach, Access, and Recovery (SOAR) is a national program designed to increase access to Social Security Administration (SSA) disability benefits, Supplemental Security Income and/or Social Security Disability Insurance (SSI/SSDI), for eligible adults and children who are experiencing or at risk of homelessness and have a mental illness, medical impairment, and/or a co-occurring substance use disorder.

Utah utilizes the SOAR Online Course (https://soarworks.samhsa.gov/content/soar-online-course-catalog)  to train service providers to utilize the SOAR model to assist with SSI/SSDI applications for adults and SSI applications for children. The SOAR Online Course, which is administered by the SAMHSA SOAR TA Center, is free, self-paced, and may be started at any time. Prior to beginning the SOAR Online Course, we recommend that you and your supervisor review the “Getting Involved with SOAR” document located here: Getting Involved With SOAR (DOCX)

SOAR-trained service providers in Utah utilize the SOAR TA Center’s Online Application Tracking system or OAT system to track SOAR outcomes statewide. If you are SOAR-trained, please register an account with OAT (https://soartrack.samhsa.gov/login.php) and track your SOAR outcomes in this system.

If you are interested in getting involved with SOAR in Utah or if your agency or community is currently using the SOAR model to assist with SSI and/or SSDI applications and need additional technical assistance, please contact Dan Coladonato at dcoladonato@prainc.com or 518-439-7415 ext. 5241.
